All good things come to an end

Our trip to Hong Kong was one of these good things that eventually have to end..sadly!

anyway…aside with nostalgia…day 5 started of literally with a BLAST!

 

Classic scene 1: The story of the singing ‘alarm clock’

..0845 my handphone alarm started sounding…

this time round i heard something more than just e alarm!

after snoozing for like GOD-KNOWS-HOW-MANY-TIMES…i suddenly heard xiaoshi singing to my alarm ringtone..”Accidentally in Love”!

i tried different ringtones every mrng since day 2…hoping that 1 of my alarms will actually irritate her to wake up!

but it seems that every mrng…she enjoys lazing in bed more as she sings along with all my different ringtones!

tell me about frustration! hahahaha!

Rach: WAKE UP LA!

XS: you wake up la!

Rach: No..you first!

XS: why i first? everyday also i first!

Rach: dun care…you first…if nt you are literally DRIVING ME UP THE WALL alrdy! (sticks my feet up on e wall beside e bed)

XS: lalalalalalalalalal (continues singing!)

Rach: eeyerr……(stomps out of bed!)

 

We left Uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul’s hse after washing up…with our 2 very heavy luggages

The last day in HK was started off with Dim Sum with Hung-伯伯, Hung-太, Barry, and Uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul at One Peking’s restaurant!

wow the view was spectecular…full scenery of HK sky-scrapers! cool! food was good too!

and there were lotsa conversation gg on as usual!

we bidded our farewells after lunch and took a quick tour ard the star ferry terminal

the weather was scorching but it was quite a spamming session we had the star ferry terminal area!

after which uncle ‘cow-fu’ paul led the way to go find fairy godmother’s (FGM) sandals!

well for those of you who dun understand my lingo…my FGM is xiaoshi’s mother!

(it is another story to how she got that nickname..come ask me another day!)

we went frm Tsim Sha Tsui to Yau Ma Tei to Kowloon Tong to Jusco (吉支岛 in cantonese!)

and frm this shoes shppg experience…i finally understood the essence of where xiaoshi inherited her shoes-frenzy genes from..HAHA!

 

Next stop was the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA)

our flight was at 8pm…proceeded there at about 5pm to have our last cup of Hui Lau Shan and Krispy Kreme doughnuts before check-in!

had to do some repacking and stuffing stuff into our luggages

during check in…my luggage weigh at 21.9 kg and xiaoshi’s was at 15.8 kg!

madness we both went with a totoal weight of 6kg!

woohoo…loots! hahahaha!

 

Classic scene 2: HKIA

Uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul:..pushing the trolley towards e departure gate…

Rach: huh so fast go in alrdy ah?

Uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul: huh still dun wanna go in den what you all wanna do?

Rach: but very early lei! hahaha!

..i think Uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul must be so tired to be our personal tour guide and food provider that i guess he better send us off early! WHAHHAHAHAHAH!

but all in all…really a big thank you to Uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul for his great hospitality and coffee every mrng…not forgetting the many meals which if not for them..i wld have to stay in HK to wash bowls! (actually i dun mind! hahaha!!)

maybe i shld ask him if he wanna be my fairy god-uncle or smthg! den i will have a whole family of ‘fairies’! wahahahahaha!

oh that makes xiaoshi my fairy god-sister! hmmm…why i didnt thought of that in the past! lalalalalala!

ok sorry back to Hong Kong now…

 

Last classic scene of the trip: I’m hungry!

Rach: gosh i need food!

XS: go buy la

…rach takes out purse and pour out e money…

Rach: huh…only got HKD10.40 lei…buy what sia?

XS: huh…we got so poor not?

Rach: ya la…that amounts to like less than SGD2 can! gosh our combine income lei!

..rach went off to buy BK onion rings that cost HKD9.60..

Rach: gosh we are left with HKD0.80…literally SGD 14 cents only!

Conclusion: 5 days in HK is too much…actually 3 days is enough…because by then all your money have been used up!

 

As i have said…all good things come to an end…

unfortunately even wonderful trips like these are not spared

i really love e fact tt i can get away frm my usual routine every now and then

honestly this is e first time i did not feel like i missed home

i guess probably there was nothing much to miss

considering that HongKong makes me feel more at home! hahaha!!

i will be back definitely…

 

Our 5 days have been nicely wrapped up…

lotsa laughter and DUH moments!

but i am sure these are going to be priceless moments that we can spend recalling and laughing our hearts out in time to come!

people tell me that a lot of friends go on holidays together and when they return..they are no longer friends!

well…i refute the hypothesis coz we have proven to be better friends after the trip!

i guess it is a matter of how much you are willing to compromise and accomodate each other

and therein lies how much you value that friendship and how strong that bond is..to begin with!

after all what doesn’t break you…makes you stronger!

 

i hope that your journey with me thru these 5 days have been entertaining and exciting!

till i blog again (not very long frm now! hahaha!!)

Hong Kong My Love Day 4 August 11, 2008

Day 4 in Hong Kong started off the latest of our 5 days there

reason being that we were left to leave the hse on our own as uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul left e hse earlier for his own activities!

so being the very piggish us..we slept until e sun was shining on our butts b4 we decided that hunger overcame our laziness! wahahaha

 

First stop of Day 4 was to Mongkok Ladies Mkt (yes again!)

we had to drop by to buy e fake lego for huixuan and junen

i had to look for baoyue’s leggings

and we had to do all these by 230pm coz we had to meet uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul at Shatin’s new shppg mall for more shppg at 3pm!

so considering that we left the hse at 12pm…we only reached Mongkok at about 1245pm…lunch till about 130pm…we started the hunt for our own ‘mission’

in the midst of the mission…under the very scorching hot sun…some funnie things happened again..

 

Classic Scene 1 of Day 4: Walking along the streets of Ladies Mkt

Rach: wah very hot la e weather!

XS: tell me about it!

Rach: gdness where to find Lego and like they dun sell full length leggings too lei!

…Rach awaits a response from XS…but no response as she continues walking…

…weird so rach turns ard wanting to get a response..

ALAS! XS IS NOWHERE TO BE SEEN!

..rach walk backwards to find XS…

and guess what…i found her squating at some corner of a store selling shoes!

WALAU..nv inform den ownself see shoes…害我自己跟自己讲话!!

Conclusion frm this incident: You shld nv walk in front of XS when it comes to shppg in HK with her…even if it means only about 1 feet infront…coz you will (not might) is WILL lose her along the way!

 

Upon mission accomplished for Day 4…we proceeded to meet Uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul for shppg at Shatin

wow…big shppg centre for the estate of Shatin and i was pretty impressed by Uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul’s shppg ethics!

 

Classic Scene 2 of Day 4: In the shppg mall at Shatin

..all 3 of us walking very fast..

uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul was giving us a quick orientation of the mall!

Uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul: Ok this is the new wing..that was the old wing..only this level and upstairs have linking bridges btw e 2 wings…

Uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul : so you 2 go shopping la..im going upstairs to see my sports wear! BYE!

Rach (thinking to herself): wah…why Uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul like more enthu than 2 girls when it comes to shppg! ZAI! salute him..one of e most well-oriented man with shppg that i have ever come across!

..it is not 2 girls bring him out to shppg that finds him troublesome…but rather he bring 2 girls out to shppg that is troublesome to him!…wahahaha!

 

not much loots at Shatin coz i guess we were rather drained out for that day alrdy!

after Shatin was dinner with Uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul, Uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul’s hse-mate, Barry, and Barry’s parents

we went to 打边炉 (da-pin-low in cantonese) hahaha

quite a experience!

well i tot the company for the night was better than the food (even tho e food was very gd)

Barry’s parents…namely Hung-太and Hung-伯伯 were very funny and jovial pple!

i like them…coz they talk so much…just like me! wahahaha!

Hung-伯伯 is an extremely warm and outspoken old man!

and even tho he was old in terms of age…he was definitely one that was young at heart!

He would gladly go on and on about his photography skills and his extensive knowledge of HongKong’s history and the places of interests!

He would always have a camera and a video recorder on hand whenever he went..that was indeed smthg for an old man like him!

 

The night was ended with lotsa laughter while Uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul sent the old folks back home!

but dun be in a hurry to finish day 4!

Something very funnie happened on the way back home in uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul’s car

 

Classic Scene 3 of Day 4: …we were kinda lost on the road…

..while driving pass a double-decker bus on our left..

uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul exclaimed, “HEY why is the bus blocking my signboard!”

XS and Rach: HUH where got signboard?

Uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul: The bus is blocking my view of the signboard!

XS and Rach: WAHAHAHAHHAHA!

XS: how come the bus block you also you know that there is a signboard!?!?!

Uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul: ..the trademark ‘heehee’ face again!

XSand Rach: WAHAHAHHAHAHHAHA!

…seriously i wonder how many times uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul was lost on e same road…considering that he even knows where the signboard was located when the bus blocked his view! hahahaha…

 

alritey…day 4 ended off in a very nice manner…and before we all went to bed…

 

Classic scene 4 of Day 4:

Rach: eh what time are we supposed to wake up tmr?

XS: er.. i dunno lei..can you go and ask my uncle…

Rach: okie

..and walks off into the hall to find uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul..

Rach: Uncle Paul..what time are we leaving the hse tmr?

Uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul: depends on what time you all wake up!

Rach: okie…we are gg for timsum breakfast right? so we leave e hse at 930am shld be ok right?

Uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul: HAHAHA..i think you all wake up then say la huh!

Rach: heehee…alrite!

 

well well…i guess it doesnt take more than 5 days for anyone to know how snoozy we are when it comes to waking up..esp in the morning! wahahahaha!

Good bye folks…thats all for day 4….stay tune for Day 5..our very last day in HK…how depressing!

Hong Kong My Love Day 3 August 10, 2008

Haha…long wait for Day 3 right?

Good things are worth waiting for..okie enuf of my crap…let our journey continue!

 

Day 3 in Hong Kong was marked by shopping and more shopping..eating and more eating! (haha)

We left for a tim sum breakfast opposite Uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul’s hse

it was some neighbourhood restaurant which looked like some shppg centre restaurant in Spore!

the food there was not bad too!

after which we proceeded to the infamous HongKong Disneyland…er for photo-taking sessions outside the main gate only (in case you think tt we went in..haha..we DIDN’T!)

the ride there was quite a spamming session…coz the train was super cute! (refer to photos on facebook to get what i mean)

after we reach the Disney MTR station…we were busy spamming fotos in all different angles…

the ‘emo’ shots of me imitating donald duck were the funniest and of coz not forgetting the shots where i had to act emo coz hafta leave disneyland to go shopping!

to be honest i guess we were more than happy to leave..coz the next stop was SHOPPING!

acting emo were jus part of the usual tourist vibes that we were displaying! wahahahaha!!

no classic scenes at the moment…next stop was to TUNG CHUNG!

the factory outlet shopping centre near the airport!

 

At Tung Chung…we walked into almost every shop and we stop at some of them

however nothing beats seeing the famous 3 red stripes (aka Esprit)

you have two crazy women dashing in YET AGAIN…

 

Scene 1: Inside Esprit (again)

Rach: er..you dun take shopping bag hor..you say cannot take it anymore!

XS: okie…i take trolley then!

Rach: WHAT!??!?!?!?! (totally give up)

..of coz you noe e common phrase i always use..if you cant beat them, you join them…

..so i proceed to take my own trolley too..heehee!… (in the name of peer influence)

 

ok so another 3 hours inside Esprit…with 2 of us going into e fitting room about 10 times each!

 

Scene 2: In the fitting room area of Esprit

..signs state maximum 5 pieces only…

XS: (comes out of the fitting room) vaining in front of the mirror outside

Rach: wah not bad ah…can buy!

XS: hmmm..ya…(then happily go and take some more clothes from her trolley outside into the fitting room..even as it exceeds more than 5 pieces!!)

*Rach stares in amazement! (and wonders why she no need to queue again even tho e freaking queue was so long!)*

Conclusion from this incident…who says women are dumb..they can get quite clever when it comes to shopping! we save time from queueing for fitting rooms by acting blur! 顺手牵羊 indeed!!

 

Scene 3: Still inside Esprit (ya..dun faint!)

XS: eh you need the toilet or not huh?

Rach: Haha..actually yes…but i was thinking of tahan-ing until we pay!

XS: huh but im long way from being done lei..i still havent see my tops yet!

Rach: HUH? ok then you go toilet first la..i look after the trolley for you!

XS: okie..(happily go off)

…of coz i also happily push 2 trolleys ard esprit and continue my selection! (even tho my bladder wanna burst liao!)

Conclusion: toilet trips are a waste of time when it comes to shopping in HK!

 

AFter 3 long ardous hours..we finally departed Esprit with a heavy heart coz we gave up a lot of clothes due to bursting of budget! wahahahaha…proceeded to eat a light meal at Mac den went on to the supermarket to shop! yes supermkt also can shop!

 

Scene 4: At the tidbits dept

Rach: wah the TaoKaeNoi seaweed is super cheap lei!

XS: wah i wanna buy too! you go take basket lei!

Rach: okie you look after my bag ah..i go take!

..rach comes back with a TROLLEY instead!…wahahhaha!

XS: wahlau! trolley again! WAHAHAHAHHA!

Rach: ya la…might as well!

..both of us cleared the entire shelf of TaoKaeNoi seaweed…(haha!)

 

Finally we were running late…if nt i guess we will clear our wallets in the supermkt too!

need to meet uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul for dinner at Gold Coast Hotel (international buffet)

honestly the drive there was a very long one…but it was all worth it…

i eat until cannot walk! sashimi, roasted beef, roasted sushi, desserts, abalone, roasted goost just to name a few of the delicacies i had!

end up have to go toilet b4 i continue round 2! WAHAHAHAHAHA!

yup the night was rounded off very well with good food and good company!

and of coz the most number of bags we had in 3 days!

Hong Kong My Love Day 2 August 8, 2008

As promised…day 2 of my HK trip is here!

 

Ok rise and shine for Day 2 in the beautiful island of Hong Kong

We woke up at 10am (after snoozing for about 1 hour..original wake up time was supposed to be 845am with intentions to leave e hse by 930am..but failed attempt)

Uncle ‘cow-fu’ Paul was alrdy sipping his freshly brewed cuppa over some bread when i walked out into e living room

hmmm..nice aroma of coffee ard e hse i thought!

after washing up and preparing, putting on make-up and so…(you know we are in HK..in case along the streets we meet some rich man’s son living up in The Peak..we definitely have to look our BEST!)

we left for the “Squat-by-the-streets-chee-cheong-fun” breakfast-brunch-lunch

wow..it was impressive…the rice cakes were tender and smooth

i bet you never tasted smthg like that in Spore!

NO FIGHT!

and what’s more is that they only cost less than 2 bucks for 2 pple eating!

hahaha…so happie!

 

After breakfast, uncle ‘cow-fu’ paul dropped us off at his university MTR stop and we started our Day 2 madness!

we took a train to Central (Hong Kong Island side)

along the way smthg hilarious happened…

here it goes…

 

Scene 1: The Mad Rush

XS: do pple in Central walk extremely fast?

Rach: yea you see later lor..hahaha!

XS: oh no then we have to walk very fast too!

Rach: ERM..ya i think so!

…reached Mongkok station to change train to Central…

(being e pple who takes lotsa initiative..we walked to the last cabin door in hope of getting my space to stand ard)

..train comes and door opens…

XS: wah so many pple…let’s go next door

Rach: okie

…we walked to e next door and realise everyone is pushing in and there was no space for us!…

…walked back to original door…CHAM…no space to go in also…

XS: WAHLAU! i dun wanna go alrdy..so scary!

Rach: ok good bye i go myself..you go home! WAHAHAHAHA!

..then you have 2 pple waiting another 6 min for the next train..this time round smarter..

 

Okie…fast forward..we reached the Central…and took an electric bus (AKA the ‘ting-ting’ – must say in Cantonese!)

quite an experience with all e squeezing and cam-whoring session on board!

and finally we reached Causeway Bay..our day 2 shopping paradize!

we had a rest at the famous ’gui-ling-gao’ store b4 we proceed to shop

the itinery of day 2 included Muji-Esprit(again)-Bonjour-Sasa-Dress shops along e streets-Jardine Bazaar-Watsons-SOGO!

Classic conversation of day 2…Scene 2:

..after lotsa walking on e streets of Causeway bay…

XS: huh why no shoes to buy?

Rach: i think we need to go SOGO to buy..there got 8 storeys of shppg lei!

XS: WAH ok!

Rach: no wonder it is called SOGO…it means SO let’s GO…SO-GO! (dun roll your eyes!)

 

Fast forward to Scene 3:

…at Sogo we saw like a thousand shoes at the shoe and bag department all lined up ready for attack!…

XS: wah…ok where shall we start?

Rach: Just go on separate ways la!

XS: den where shall we meet?

Rach: aiya…just go…will meet somehow one!

XS: Okie…good bye!

 

i guess perhaps you must be thinking what e heck are these 2 pple up to…always full of such classic moments..even in conversations!

well i guess this is what you call 默契..you tink you wan to catch our frequency so easy ah! hahahaha!

come join us for shppg and maybe you will start learning what is called shop till you drop! but still very happy and fulfilling in the process!

well we basically summed up day 2 with a great dinner at the peak with uncle ‘cow-fu’ paul

we took a very exciting car ride up there..and this time ard…i manage to see the most spectecular sight of the Pearl of the Oriental – the beautiful night view of HK from the peak!

Dinner-Ice cream-Shppg (yes even on e peak can shop!)-Camwhore

 

Private Joke of the day: the idea of COOK-KEI (曲奇) started after our ice-cream at Haagen Daaz! so basically XS jus went COOK-KEI (in cantonese) the whole night and e subsequent days of the trip…

 

Wohoo…ok day 2 end alrdy…go home and SLEEP!

Hong Kong My Love Day 1! August 7, 2008

This has been a long overdue post!

Hahaha…due to my very packed schedule between work and school

Still i must say…Hong Kong is one place i never fail to feel so at home!

the 1st sentence i said when i arrived in Hong Kong was “It feels so good to be home!”

ok cut things short…all my 诗情画艺 description should be cut short..hahaha!

 

Day 1: Arrival in HKIA…xiaoshi’s uncle ‘cow-fu’ paul came to pick us up from the airport! that was so sweet of him! and my first impression of him…hmmm i think he looks like my childhood imagination of SANTA CLAUS! (of coz in the days to come he was practically like my God-sent SANTA!)

Next up was a long ride back to his house to drop the luggages before we headed out for TIM SUM LUNCH! gosh it was just a normal restaurant located in CityU in HK and the food was GREAT! far cry frm those we get in S’pore! I really enjoyed my first meal there…soon after xiaoshi and me went straight down to Mongkok Ladies Market to start our shopping craze part 1!

Giordano, Bossini, G2000, Esprit were our best friends for the rest of the day. Hui Lau Shan dessert store was an acquintance to the ‘good friends’ that we found in the streets of MONGkok…why did i CAPS the “MONG” in Mongkok…xiaoshi will understand..hahaha!

The Esprit shopping experience was the most classic event of day 1..and it goes like this:

Scene 1: Racheal passes a 100cmx50cm shopping bag frm the Esprit outlet store to Xiaoshi and it proved to be a grave mistake…

Rach: nah…this one give you (the shppg bag)

XS: huh you sure or not…dun 害我 lei!

Rach: aiya wun wan la…how much can you take!

XS: smiles sheepishly with the trademark ‘HEEHEE’ look

…we went on our separate ways and met about 30 mins later…

Rach: Wah where your shopping bag? i dun see anything..you so good ah not buying anything!

XS: er…NO…the bag is too heavy…i can’t carry!!!

Rach: OMG! are you serious..where isit?

XS: er i left it outside the fitting room later go try!

..XS brings rach to see her loot…

Rach (upon seeing the loot): I am so sorry for passing you the shppg bag…it was a GRAVE mistake!

..my GOSH! the clothes were spilling out of the bag! i shld have taken a photo but pardon me…in tt shocking moment i didnt think properly! wahahahaha!…

 

so i concluded once again…never leave 2 woman alone in HongKong..not even for 5 mins…and never ever pass them shopping bags!

 

Day 1 was concluded with meeting Cyndi for dinner! it was pretty nice catching up with a fren in a land away frm home! (or rather at home for me!). we talked a bit…went for a satisfying dinner at my favourite noodles store, and wrapped the night up nicely with Hui Lau Shan desserts! HEAVENLY!

Cyndi i hope that you are doing good! jiayou in work and see you back in Spore soon….of coz i wld love to go back to HK to find you! hahahaha!

Ok let’s embark on classic scene 2 of day 1 in HK:

…ride on the 小bus in HK..they call it the mini-bus…

Scene 2: Finding the correct bus frm Fanling MTR station

Rach: er which one ah?

XS: there that one there (pointing to the mini-bus)

Rach: er okie…(feeling quite proud we found the bus and boarded)

…happy snapping fotos and all e usual crap on e bus…

Rach: er where to alight ah? do i need to scream 前面有下?

…XS stares at me..like WTH!…

…we both stare at each other when the bus stopped and alighted like more den 10 pple…

…however we realized that it was not uncle ‘cow-fu’ paul’s hse yet!…

..so being very us…we continue to sit on e bus and try our luck!…

..so the bus moved on…and it approached somewhere familiar…we saw the apartment! yeayness!…

after alighting….

Rach: wah i feel so clever!

Xs: “rolls her eyes at me AGAIN”

 

Classic Scene 3: Lost and Found!

after feeling accoplished that we managed to find our own way home

we came to realize that we didnt know exactly where uncle ‘cow-fu’ paul was staying at!

what was his apartment block?

what was his unit number?

we were absolutely clueless!

so you have 2 very tired and lost woman walking ard pple’s private estate in the middle of the night

with 2 security wondering what on earth we were up to!

XS to security: er we are lost!

security: which block you looking for?

Rach to security: er…8th floor unit D

security: HUH..there is so many unit 8D! which block?

rach and xs stares at each other and looked confused!

 

WAHAHAHAHA…we decided to call uncle ‘cow-fu’ paul for help! after much hoo-ha we found our way

all tired out frm e laughter and walking!

oh my gdness! what is happening to me!

food is one of my greatest pleasure in life!

i hate to watch pple eat so happily and heartily and yet i dun get involved!

i wanna eat properly again

nevermind about the cutting of fat, diet, or whatever!

GONG HEI FATT CHOY everyone!

Here comes the favourite festival of mine…

CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!

this few days of joyous celebration never fails to cheer me up

it feels great to be around my family

eating, gambling, catching up with one another

and the best part of it all i get to feel RICH!

i have broke a new record for day one collection with the starting number of 3…

big WAHAHAHAHA!

with the impending vistations in e upcoming 2 weeks

i guess at 500 should not be a problem!

if only CNY is celebrated monthly…wahahahaha!

im looking forward to day 2 already

i just find so many reasons to be in love with it!

and we will spread the love with a little money to go along!

Retail Therapy February 4, 2008

the 5 days 4 nights of retail therapy helped in providing me with a lot of instant gratification

i bought a total of 4 tops (blue $29.90; brown $13, purple $13, red $11.50)

1 thick belt (silver and black $23)

a pair of 3.5 inches heels (red $18)

a Longchamp bag (purple $291)

lotsa sweets frm Muji (about $15)

lotsa stationeries frm Kino (about $10)

..and the total damage is estimated to be about $425

the bulk of it goes to the new bag of mine!

its a love at first sight chemistry im sharing with my new bag

but i dun think i will like it for very long…OPPS!

at least it kept me happy for that moment

and probably up till now i still like it very much

i just needed to spend money to receive that instant gratification

bimbotic and extravagent as it may sound

but i needed to find new likings to distract myself

i shall put an end to this madness spree

no more money to spare already

thank God CNY is coming!

P.S: thanks girls (xiaoshi, xuan, aman, mic, deb, louise) for being there to listen to me rant, shop with me, eat with me, tok to me, and even cry with me! no wonder they say girl-friends are forever…muacks! love you all!
